I Fed The Cats
I am an educator, animal welfare enthusiast, traveler, and vegan entrepreneur. My professional experience includes decades of teaching in a variety of educational settings, including special needs programs in the States, as well as English and international school programs in Japan. I helped to start an animal welfare group in japan; to start two sheltering programs; to organize disaster response efforts over the 3 years following the earthquake and tsunami in northern Japan. I have recently begun a volunteer and guest house program in Kyoto to help fund the animal welfare work.
I Fed The Cats
I am primarily interested in the idea of helping people to do better, particularly as that relates to animal welfare. I realize that there are many many people out there doing amazing work in isolation, along with many others who have the potential to get started. My goal is to provide venues for people to better connect with available resources and also with each other. My new projects include creating an animal rescue guide, to help tell the stories of some of the many little rescue groups working around the world. There’s also the dream of helping to create more sustainable funding projects. And, I’m working on a book with the hope of sharing some rescue stories along with some of the sheltering tips I’ve learned along the way. Underneath most of everything I participate in, there is the core mission of helping people help animals.
What We Do
We help people help pets. We believe that people helping pets should not have to give up everything to do so. If you have a good local project, or an idea for one, we want to assist you.
Volunteering with JCN in Kyoto was created as a way to help support animal rescue assistance in Japan, but you can also be a part of a great group of people.
In the city of Kyoto, Maneki Machiya restores old machiyas into beautifully modern stays while keeping the original structure. We hope to provide the traditional Kyoto living experience, your stay will be full of great souvenirs from Kyoto.
